Two men drown in Ottawa river

OTTAWA –After two days of search, the bodies of two men, aged 20 and 26, missing since late Saturday night were recovered from the Ottawa River yesterday by officers of the police marine dive and trails unit.

Their names have been withheld at the request of their families.

The two men were walking with friends in the river at Deschênes Rapids at 11:30 pm on Saturday when they apparently waded out too far and were swept off by the current and disappeared.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service at 613-236-1222, ext. 2912 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477 (TIPS) or toll free at 1-800-222-8477
