Pirate Trap: Canadian sailors’ first person accounts of drama at sea off Somalia

It was a trap laid at sea. Seven armed pirates and sailors from Canada’s HMSC Winnipeg engaged in a battle of wits off the coast of Somalia. It ended in the dark of night with the pirates surrendering. This is a first person account of an incredible encounter with pirate peril.

Canadian female soldier found dead at base in Kandahar

A second female soldier has been killed in Afghanistan. Major Michelle Mendes was found dead inside the base at Kandahar. DND ruled out enemy action but gave no cause. On April 13, Karine Blais, 21, was killed by a bomb.
