An Alabama woman told friends who joked she was pregnant that she’d call her baby Taco Bell.
In reality she was gaining weight and suffering abdominal pain because of an undiagnosed ovarian cyst that was finally detected and surgically removed after she went to Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, Alabama.
She had endured jokes about her ‘pregnancy’ – said 30-year-old Kayla Rahn. And she’d respond that she’d call her baby Taco Bell.
Doctors at Jackson Hospital said that cysts are not uncommon but the size of the one being carried by Rahn was extraordinary at 50-pounds. They said it was the size of a large watermelon and was compressing her abdominal organs.
“This is one of the largest I have ever seen or certainly removed,” one doctor told NBC12. “We are very excited things went well for her.”
Rahn spent two days in hospital ICU ward before returning home. Doctors said her organs that were compressed by the gigantic cyst have returned to normal size and she’s doing well.
